Theres a new sound coming through the
airwaves in Fairfield, as 1570 KMCD and 95.9 KIIK have changed
formats. Listeners of both stations have come to count on
and appreciate the local flavor of both stations, with local
news, sports and weather, and now both stations offer live
morning shows from 6 to 9 a.m. with local talent.
KMCD, formerly, the Talk of Southeast Iowa has
gone country, and now offers a classic country format, and
is dubbed Your Hometown Station. KMCD Radio serves
Jefferson County and the surrounding area with Americas
number one radio format, Classic Hit Country, along with the
local content KMCD listeners have come to expect for the last
five decades with local news from Emily Humble, local sports,
with Lee Muntz, and morning show host, Steve Smith.
And on the FM side listeners can now tune in to Classic 96,
formerly HOT 96 FM. Classic 96 is geared toward the Baby Boomer
generation with the best hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and
90s. Classic 96 intertwines some of the new hits of today
that will soon be classics. Classic 96 offers a strong connection
to the community with a live morning show with Steve Shaw
from 6-9 a.m. with live sports and news briefs and more great
features.
The format changes took effect October 1, 2007, four months
after the stations were acquired by Good Radio.TV. The stations
were previously owned by Fairfield Media Group.
